There are so many stories about how people begin donating blood.
It was the patriotic thing to do during World War II. It was an easy way to get out of class during high school. A friend asked. A loved one needed blood. A factory hosted a blood drive during work hours. A bloodmobile was in the grocery parking lot. Because mom said so.
And there are so many stories about why people receive blood – farming accidents, chronic blood disorders, premature births, organ transplants and cancer therapies.
Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) hears all these stories and more. Here are just a few of those stories.
