Dear Donors and Friends,

    Statistics show that about every three seconds, someone, somewhere in Kentucky needs blood. It could be a car accident victim, a child fighting cancer or an organ donor recipient. There is a very good chance that you or I will need a blood transfusion in our lifetime.

  Therefore, an adequate supply of blood must be built to meet any medical or health crisis across our 62-county central and eastern Kentucky service area. Think about it. Will enough of this precious, life-giving fluid be on a hospital's blood bank shelf the day you, a family member, friend, neighbor or co-worker needs it? It is up to all of us to do our part.

    Blood collection wouldn't be possible without the strong support of people like you. In addition to our four donor centers in Lexington, Somerset, Pikeville and Prestonsburg, KBC gathers blood donations from more than 2,000 donor groups who give at mobile drives held at local businesses, manufacturing plants, organizations, clubs, colleges, high schools and churches.

    If you've never been a blood donor, please give it a try! It's safe and easy and no big deal. If you do donate, please add one or two more donations this year. Help our fellow Kentuckians. After all, it's about life.
